Print on Canvas - Firebird

This is a 16" x 20" fine art print of my original 2023 oil painting Firebird. The work was inspired by alchemical symbolism, where the phoenix represents the final stage of the Great Work and the rebirth of the human soul.
In this painting, I turned instead to Slavic folklore, depicting the legendary Firebird — a magical creature from East Slavic fairy tales that heroes must capture during their quest. Like the philosopher’s stone sought by medieval alchemists, the Firebird symbolizes a rare and transformative discovery.
The scene captures the moment of sudden encounter, when the viewer unexpectedly finds the bird and startles it. Known in folklore for its ability to turn everything into gold, the Firebird is elusive and ready to vanish at the slightest sign of danger.
